Visiting Your Loved One

At our premises in Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted we have chapels of rest or viewing rooms where you can come and spend time with your loved one. These are quiet rooms where you, your family and your friends can pay last respects to the deceased.

We always endeavour to present your loved one in the most dignified and sensitive way possible. They will normally be in a restful pose in their coffin, but you can also ask for the coffin to be closed if you would prefer.

Our chapels are suitable for people of all faiths, or no faith at all to come and see the deceased. Where religious symbols are present, we will endeavour to ensure that they will be suited to the deceased's own beliefs. Where the deceased is non-religious, where possible we will, if requested, remove or cover any religious symbols prior to the viewing appointment.

Sometimes we may judge that it is unadvisable to visit the deceased. This may be due to their mode of passing, or simply down to the amount of time passed since they died. Where we feel that it is not advisable for your loved one to be seen in our chapel, we will inform you of this as soon as possible and try to offer you alternatives.
